Free Lunchtime Con Spirito Concerts
The Con Spirito series of Friday lunchtime concerts, which has been running for almost twenty years, take place in Saint Andrew’s Uniting Church on the corner of Ann and Creek Streets in the city. The series is scheduled for the fourth Friday of each month from March to October and is designed to provide mainly tertiary level music students with a performing opportunity different from that offered by their institution. Students from the Queensland Conservatorium (QCGU) and the University of Queensland’s School of Music are regular performers in this series. A wide range of music is presented and performers include singers, string players, wind players (both individual and ensembles), pianists and organists. In recent series, groups have included a clarinet trio, saxophone quartet, string orchestra, brass ensemble, wind quintet and opera group. The concerts are free of charge.
We welcome Dana Kingsford soprano and pianist Leanne Warne who will present songs by Duparc, Richard Strauss, Hageman and Barbara Streisand hits along with works for piano including “Clare de lune” by Debussy, “March” from Seasons by Tchaikovsky and an Impromptu by Franz Schubert.
Please contact Barbara Tate (07) 3217 3529 or 0414 505 754 if you are interested in performing in these concerts or are interested in obtaining further details.
